you completed it already?
hoteggroll - November 22, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
yes I did!!!!
I enjoyed this drama from beginning to end. What a magnificent production - from the storyline, to the music, cinematography and acting! Wow. My faith in kdramas is restored! Thank you!!!
I read a ton of reviews where some people thought it was boring in parts... NOT ME! But then again it may just mean that I'm way boring, because I could relate. This is the side of Korea that I wanted to see so much: professional life, dating people with "baggage", searching for happiness in the simplicity of things.
I mean not once did someone catch a cold and then die of cancer. The symbolic "other side of the tracks", where there is such a disparity between rich and poor wasn't even an issue. This show actually focused on educated, working professionals. So nice to have a middle class :) That's probably why I fell in love with these characters. They're like my friends. It was so heartbreaking for me that I couldn't console them.

syah, i checked this out in azn i think almost the same time when tisa got her very exprensive dvd's and i got done after 3 seating only. i haven't been watching anything lately but this show was really different from all the kseries i've seen, i enjoyed it a lot...it's like watching the story of your friend, neighbor, sister, cousin, aunt or somebody close to you that you can relate to it. definitely a good show for mature audience whose been thru a serious relationship.

wow i'm so glad Tisa, ryokou, beary, you all enjoy this drama too, i love the exchanges between all the characters, esp love Dong Jin & Eun Ho & her sister & tht doctor  well, they gave every character equal screentime actually & they show developments on not only the main couple. definitely deserve to be one of the best drama frm 2006 :)
really, there's nothing abt tis drama tht i can complain abt..... i've also told Mira to watch it hehe, but seems like she hasn't found time to catch it.
Tisa, i think those who found it boring are those who are more into romantic comedies :P
beary, this drama can only get better :) it's more worth to watch than erm wsayf :P so it's ok if u dun finish tht one, but tis one must finish keke.
GWS & SYJ have a large age gap but it worked out perfectly!

wow syah...didn't even know that the they have a huge age gap, they looked very compatible.
beary...it's definitely worth finishing, i didn't even bother to watch the rest of wsayf, just couldn't see any chemistry with rae won and the little girly that looks like his younger sis.

I thought there were as many hilarious and insightful parts as there were emotionally stirring.
Hilarious: hamburger pants, everyone picking on eachother (The sister & Doctor were absolutely perfect), the people gossiping at work, Dong Jin's restlessness, the little girl Eun Sol (what an actress!!! she was great. my brother and I love her), some of the voice overs of the main characters, and even the chef who didn't say anything was funny.
Insightful: The voice overs livened the shots of everyday life (Korea is definitely beautiful). I think this is where some people may find it boring, but I found it necessary to understand the characters. Relationships aren't easy as is, and most of the Kdramas I've seen recently focus only on far-fetched and unrealistic obstacles (relationships shouldn't have to be so rediculously complicated to be interesting - who wants that?).
Dong Jin said something pretty cool about Adults needing to fall in love. It brings them back to a time when they were hopeful, optimistic, and looked towards the future as they did when they were kids. It's true. Somehow we get forget what it feels like to be excited about tomorrow. We spend a lot of time living in the past while trying to avoid the same mistakes in the present, or cling to what was, hoping never to get old.
I also appreciate the writer and director's focus on the very nature of relationships. There aren't any guarantees... Marriage isn't the pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow... parents don't always have the answers or aren't always the best examples... communication is key to any relationship... the older you get, the more baggage you carry... and so on...
Emotionally stirring: Kumawo... Eun Ho, you break my heart! The sorrow and loneliness that poor girl felt was so real, I wish I could hug her - she carried her burden well. Yeah, I was mad at Dong Jin, too. He could have been more of a husband instead of playing off his grief (She IS your wife, dude). When she finds out after all that time of wondering... Kumawo. Cuts me deep :(
